southwest.png
We have a neighbor who could not get good solar panels at his house so he looked at wind turbines and liked who he saw. Southwest Windpower seems to have a nice product.

The Flagstaff, AZ-based Southwest company develops of small wind turbines. It has raised a new round of funding although the amount of the funding was not disclosed. Investors included PCG Clean Energy and Technology Fund, Altira, GE Energy Financial Services, NGP Energy Technology Partners, and Rockport Capital Partners.

Southwest Windpower's wind turbines provide up to 3kW of energy, and are designed for residential markets. In 2008, SouthWest sold its 100,000th unit. They have benefitted from legislation that gives a tax credit up to $4K to consumers who purchase Southwest Windpower’s Skystream. You can buy a small unit at HomeDepot for at little as $2500.
