Customer Understanding Platform's Causata Raises $4.5M

causata.png
San Francisco's Causata has raised $4.5M in Series A funding from Accel Partners. Causata founder Paul Phillips previously founded TouchClarity, which he sold to Omniture for $48.5M in 2007.

Causata sells a hosted analytics platform to retailers and financial services companies that help them to understand what is making their customers happy and what is pissing them off.

As the CEO explains, its not a stretch for him to move from software that understands your site visitors to a platform that understand your customers and prospects across channel from the Web to the physical store.

We had a bad experience recently involving TMobile and Radio Shack. Shame on us for not expecting a bad experience at the Shack. Given that we know the problem affected a lot of people, it would have been nice to know that somehow brass at Tmobile would have known that people were having a lousy experience sooner rather than later. We think that's the concept that Causata is chasing.
