MySpace Mobsters Maker Playdom Raises $43M

playdom.png
What a way to do your first outside round. Playdom has raised $43M on a $260M pre-money valuation. New Enterprise Associates, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Norwest Venture Partners invested in the round.

Chairman Richard Thomson also invested, he recently cashed out some money from his role at Adify. CEO John Pleasants has a nice resume. He was CEO of CitySearch, Ticketmaster and Revolution Health and COO of EA. Playdom recently opened a San Francisco studio to supplement its Mountain View headquarters.

Oddly, Playdom earns most of its revenues from MySpace rather than Facebook. Mobsters is MySpace's top game, with 14M+ users, while the game doesn't make it to Facebook's top 25.

Playdom has 28M monthly game users. 60% of traffic is from MySpace while just 40% is from Facebook.
