Romantic Twist As Flixster Weds Rotten Tomatoes

Flixster.png
Flixster and Rotten Tomatoes have both had their dramatic twists. Flixster is an extremely popular social network around movies on-site and on Facebook (and more recently on mobile apps.) Traffic across the properties has peaked. Rotten Tomatoes was close to being bought by IAC in 2008 for $150M but the deal was not consummated.

Rotten Tomatoes was founded in 1988 and was bought by IGN in 2004 and then was taken up by News Corp. when that company bought IGN. RT aggregates reviews or movies from around the Web and provides an over-all rating of it. So both sites are fairly similar and surely they can be efficient, particularly in the ad sales department. Movie promoters can turn to Yahoo Movies and now they have a very strong number two to turn to.

The terms of the acquisition have yet to be revealed, but News Corp. will receive a minority stake in Flixster.
