Lumenergi Brightens The Bay Area

Two California federal buildings are receiving retrofit to improve
their energy efficiency and reduce their carbon footprint. The Bay
Area’s Lumenergi is playing a role in the energy efficiency makeover
by providing its advanced intelligent lighting solutions for the
buildings in San Francisco and Oakland.
Chosen by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to work on
the project, Lumenergi met the stringent guidelines set for the
project including real-time monitoring and reporting, fine-tuning
lighting levels with smooth dimming, and advanced lighting control
that includes integrated daylight harvesting, occupancy sending, task
tuning, scheduling and personal control
GSA has already seen the results of Lumenergi’s products firsthand.
Back in 2009, Lumenergi was chosen to participate in a GSA pilot
program on a floor of the Philip Burton Federal Building in San
Francisco where they provided workstation-specific lighting solutions.
Lumenergi’s completed their portion of work on the pilot project at
the beginning of Q3 and the energy savings recorded were substantial.
Lumenergi’s systems reduced lighting electricity usage to almost 70
percent below the national average.
“Our intelligent lighting system provides a new level of user
experience, while achieving climate-friendly energy savings,” said
Michael DʼAmour, CEO of Lumenergi. “We look forward to helping more
federal, state and commercial buildings achieve similar results.”
If Lumenergi continues working with GSA, they should have an extremely
bright future. GSA currently manages 8,600 government-owned or leased
buildings, including 400 million square feet of buildings in
California.
Lumenergi has already begun working on the Phillip Burton Federal
Building and U.S. Courthouse and the Ronald V. Dellums Federal
Building in Oakland, their two largest projects to date, and are
expected to have their portion of the work completed in the next 3-6
months. The timeline depends on how much access they have to each of
the building’s floors.
With headquarters in Newark, California, Lumenergi has received
slightly less than $20 million in venture capital funding from their
Series A and is currently working on their next round according to the
company spokesperson.
