Finnish RFID Startup - Confidex - Raises 5M Euros

Confidex, a Nokia, Finland-based designer and manufacturer of RFID tags, has raised €5M in its first round which was led by Logispring with Aura Capital.

Confidex targets three main market segments - aerospace, automotive and retail - as well as newer RFID sectors such as postal applications and healthcare.

Two New Wave Super-market Tech Co.'s Merge

Sweden's Pricer bought Israel's Eldat for $40M. Combined the companies are leaders, particularly in Europe, in super-market pricing technology. In fact the company claims over 60% market-share. Eldat had sales of $17.2M in 2005, gross profit of 32%, and a net profit of $200K.

Eldat's Price Verifier allows shoppers to scan items in the aisles and get an immediate price confirmation. For the store, Eldat enables the transfer of data both ways, from the server to the store floor and from the floor back to the server.

ThingMagic Raises $21M Series A With Cisco And Negroponte
