FBI G-Men's iSekurity Raises $11M To Thwart Identify Thugs

Thumb DC-based iSekurity has raised an initial $11M from PE firm Equity 11. iSekurity's marketing spin is that it is the the largest collection of former federal agents in the US. The new Elliot Ness gang is on a mission to fight identity theft. iSekurity sells protection to corporations to shield both customers and employees, as well as affinity organizations and industry trade groups and the higher education market. CEO Susan Kampe was VP and GM of Global Information Technology for Johnson Controls. PayPal To Pay $169M For Fraud Sciences

Thumb PayPal will pay $169M in cash to acquire Fraud Sciences, an Israeli company that develops online risk and security tools. PayPal, a unit of eBay (NSDQ: EBAY), will use Fraud Sciences' technology to enhance the fraud management systems of both PayPal and eBay. FraudScience has raised $7M from BRM Capital (which holds a 40% stake), angel investor Guy Gamzu, and Redpoint Ventures. Founded by former Israeli intelligence experts, Fraud ciences set itself up to sort out legitimate bidders from suspicious bidders. Webroot Buys UK's Email Systems

Thumb Anti-spyware's Webroot is buying UK-based security as a service firm Email Systems. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The merged firm will be called Webroot. Founded 5 years back, Email Systems says it protects an estimated 2.5M email boxes for 1,500 businesses worldwide. It competes with MessageLabs. In February, 2005 Webroot raised $108M. It has since hired a new CEO and announced its intention to go public. Webroot got its start in fighting malware but has moved to expand to other areas of security. View - site... Continue...
